CBS News obtained these photographs from the FBI. It reports it has obtained 90 previously unreleased Jeffrey Epstein photos, never seen before by the public.

Mainstream media outlets like CBS News are now acknowledging that the Jeffrey Epstein case appears more like a cover-up than a proper investigation, with 90 newly obtained, previously unseen photos raising serious questions.

The federal investigation into Jeffrey Epstein’s 2019 death at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in New York City was marked by significant oversights, according to CBS News. Experts highlighted failures to interview key witnesses, preserve evidence, and conduct standard forensic tests.

Nearly two years elapsed before investigators interviewed the two corrections officers on duty the night Epstein died, which was officially ruled a suicide. One officer reported finding Epstein hanging by a bedsheet, but photos taken before FBI agents arrived at 1:35 p.m.—over seven hours after his body was discovered at 6:30 a.m.—show a disorganized scene with moved items, including linens and mattresses, and no evidence markers.

Forensic experts, including analyst Nick Barreiro, criticized the lack of basic procedures, noting the absence of tools typically used by the FBI. Photos revealed inconsistencies, such as a mattress appearing in different locations, with metadata indicating the scene was disturbed hours before federal investigators arrived. Former NYPD detective Herman Weisberg described the scene as potentially “staged,” emphasizing that standard crime-scene protocols were not followed.

The 2023 Department of Justice Inspector General’s report confirmed Epstein’s death as a suicide, consistent with Attorney General William Barr’s statements. However, Epstein’s brother, Mark, and co-defendant Ghislaine Maxwell have questioned the official ruling, with Mark asserting the case was never properly investigated as a homicide.

While CBS News’ review found no evidence of foul play, the investigation deviated from standard procedures for suspicious deaths. Forensic pathologist Michael Baden noted that moving Epstein’s body before FBI arrival hindered determining the time of death. Emergency medical technicians reported vague staff accounts, and surveillance cameras, though present, were not recording due to a known but unfixed hard-drive issue.

Photos also showed inconsistencies, such as an orange string and a noose-like fabric appearing in different locations, with some evidence photographed in a separate room. The Justice Department later clarified that a depicted noose was not the one used in Epstein’s death. No DNA or fingerprint tests were documented, and results from autopsy swabs, if conducted, remain undisclosed.

Experts like former NYPD deputy commissioner Richard Esposito emphasized that these lapses fueled public skepticism, underscoring the need for transparent investigations to counter misinformation.
