TruthTent publishes conservative analysis. We do not pretend to have no opinions, and we do not treat opinion as a substitute for evidence.
Evidence comes first
We prefer primary material whenever it is available: bill text, court records, executive orders, agency statistics, hearing transcripts, financial filings, full speeches, and direct statements. A press release can show what an institution claims. It does not prove every claim inside it.
When another news organization breaks a story, we link to that reporting and identify what came from it. Rephrasing an outside article is not original reporting.
News, analysis, and opinion
TruthTent’s work is usually analysis. That means the article explains records, compares claims with available evidence, and offers an editorial judgment. We label opinion when the author’s personal argument is the main point.
Headlines must describe the article. They should not claim a person “destroyed,” “proved,” or “admitted” something the record does not support.
Numbers and dates
Statistics are tied to a period, definition, and issuing organization. Monthly and annual changes are labeled separately. Preliminary figures and later revisions are noted when they affect the conclusion.
We do not backdate an article to make it look as if TruthTent covered an event when it happened. Historical explainers state when the underlying event occurred and when the analysis was published or reviewed.
Political perspective
TruthTent is sympathetic to President Trump and the America First movement. Readers deserve to know that. The same factual standards still apply to favorable and unfavorable information.
We avoid claims about motive unless a person states the motive or strong evidence supports the inference. Disagreement is not proof of corruption, and an official statement is not proof that the official is right.
Automation and editorial responsibility
Software may assist with research organization, transcription, spelling, formatting, link checks, or a working draft. Automated output is not an authority. No unattended system is authorized to publish directly to the live site.
The TruthTent Editor is responsible for reviewing the public documents, checking the language, verifying links, selecting legally usable media, and approving publication.
Images
Google Images is a search tool, not a license. TruthTent uses material we own, public-domain government works, properly licensed Creative Commons media, or images supplied with permission. Captions identify the source and license when attribution is required.
Corrections
Factual errors are corrected promptly. A material change receives a correction note with the date and substance of the update. Spelling and formatting fixes that do not change meaning may be made without a formal note.
